An Adaptive Bike

July 30, 2012

Last year we finally got on the wait list to get Owen an adaptive bike. Adaptive bikes can easily cost $2000. Especially the more custom adjustments there need to be. Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis gives away a handful of these bikes each year.

A couple of weeks ago we got a letter from Variety. They were ready to get Owen’s measurements for his bike. Yay!!! So, last week I took him to get measured.

They put him on a bike to see how it would work for him. He did so good. I would push him a little and then he’d push down with his foot. Then I would push him a little and he’d push down with the other foot. I really think when we get it he might take to it relatively quickly.

We won’t get Owen’s bike until December. I can’t wait though. He’s getting a bright orange one! I think he’ll love it.
